JDT Guest & Family Testimonials
Dear Jerry & Dolores,
I came to your Lincoln Park rehab facility on 3/1/11 and wanted you to know how much I am enjoying my stay. Your rehab staff is great, focused, professional, caring and actually perform the kind of therapy I was expecting. (I spent 6 weeks over the last year in two other “Rehab” facilities and have gotten more out of my in 4-5 days than in these other “rehabs”. )
I only wish I had started out with you folks last year!! Also, the nursing and service staff are as good in their jobs as the OT’s. You’ve got a great concept here that’s working. My thanks again!

Dear Mimi and Ed:
After spending several weeks at the Jerry and Dolores Turco Medical Rehab Center, I wanted to let you both know what a beautiful facility this is. While I completed the in-house survey I also feel that a personal touch is needed just to personally let you know how I feel about your facility.
The care that was provided to me was beyond my expectations, both in nursing and rehabilitation. The ability to access the Internet from my room was a big benefit to me since I do almost everything on the computer and needed Internet connectivity.
On the third floor the personal attention I received by the nursing staff and the aides was extraordinary and the PT and OT staff made the rehabilitation process enjoyable. Their dedication to my recovery was beyond what I expected. The personal attention I received from the nursing staff was also very personalized. I should also mention the memorable delicious meals served at the evening buffet.
I would like to thank you and the staff for an enjoyable and memorable recovery.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Feliciano:
The facility is superlative! There are so many amenities in JDT, but the private room must be the first mentioned, followed quickly by cleanliness, the Healing Garden and the charming lounges to meet family and friends.
However, JDT would simply be a fine building were it not for the personnel, competent and patient centered care at every level. The therapy, which is the key to a speedy and complete-as-can-be recovery, is outstanding! The therapists reflect the knowledge and skill of highly competent therapists and also reveal a genuine empathy with the patient. They motivate by having high expectations- even when one is slow to achieve, and both reflect humor, confidence and good will.
I admire the collaborative nature of the therapists: all of whom are aware of every nuance of the patients in the room; therefore, one may bring attention to a misplaced foot or to poor posture. They are a fine cadre of professionals and the cheerful efficiency of the transporters should all be acknowledged.
The ever-attentive medical staff enhanced my recovery along with the nurses who saw to my every need and complaint. Special kudos to the aides, the daily act of dressing and undressing, which was frustrating to me, became much easier due to their presence. Lastly, I must recognize the recreation staff who are angels in their own right.
Thank you.
A Grateful Patient
Dear Staff:
My wife is settled in at home and she is presently receiving in-home therapy. I am writing to thank you and your staff for your professional, compassionate care for my wife, and me, at times. It is noteworthy that your staff would go the extra mile when needed. One day around noon while my wife was being visited on the patio, your staff found us, brought lunch to the patio as well as a cool drink for her visitors. This was special. When we first arrived, I commented that I had intended to stay long hours and that the chairs in the room could be a problem over a period of 10 hours. Within the hour, a very comfortable loveseat was delivered to the room for our entire stay. I really appreciated this. Whenever my wife needed assistance, your nurses and aides were right there to help.
The therapy staff (fun bunch) made therapy more than bearable. I know from my personal experience that motivating patients to complete their exercises is often impossible. They were excellent motivators and I had the pleasure of seeing people improve during our stay.
The character of the facility is certainly a cut well above the traditional environment found in nursing facilities/rehab centers. We really enjoyed our retreats to the Healing Garden and patio. We will always remember sitting in the Healing Garden with the quiet new-age music, trickling stream and beautiful plants while a major thunderstorm raged outside; the contrast was amazing.
Our visiting friends were very impressed with the facility and staff. Finally, let us thank you one more time and we wish you success in the future.
Sincerely,
K. & J. M
Dear Staff,
JDT has been a most enjoyable rehab experience, which was the reason I came here. The facility was a lot nicer than I had anticipated. That in itself helped keep my spirits up. When I first arrived I could not even get out of bed. For the first few days, the therapist came to my room and worked on me to keep my rehabilitation on track. Today, I can walk with a cane. Overall, the facility is more like a hotel than a rehab facility. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel at home. Thank you for everything you have done.
Warmest Regards,
H.M.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Feliciano:
It seems I have written you a “love letter” but one that is richly deserved. My love affair with JDT continues with my out-patient status staff who exemplifies outstanding professionalism. Thank you for this facility and for everyone in it.
J.T.
Dear Ms. Feliciano,
My name is Ed Saade. My father Moises Saade was a patient at the JDT Rehab Center for over three months. My Dad fell and was brought to your facility to rehabilitate so that he could get back to his pre-fall "standard of living". He made great strides towards that recovery but unfortunately due to other ailments he passed on July 1, 2010.
Several brothers and sisters of my Dad came from Columbia to attend his funeral. It was very important to my Mom that I bring them to the Center so they could see what type of facility and care he was receiving. I did. Given the time of day we went over, they could not see the therapists in action but they were impressed by the aesthetics but much more so as to how the staff on duty ran up to my mother and engaged her by hugging her and offering their condolences.
Rehabilitation centers can always "pump" money into the facility to make it "state of the art", but the attributes of the JDT employees is what sets you apart.
Words cannot begin to describe my family's gratitude for the humanity and compassion shown to my Dad during his stay there. It will be an injustice to single out any one individual but I would be remiss if I didn't state that the kindness and caring starts with your admissions director, Tere Kirk, and flows downward to the social worker, rehab therapists, nursing staff, nursing assistants, receptionists and even groundskeepers. Ms. Kirk took time out to sit at family meetings to make sure the needs of my Dad were being met, whether economical, medical or just personal well being. In a time when he most needed it, she made my Dad feel in control of decisions affecting his remaining days.
My family's heart is saddened by his loss but it is "comforted" in the knowledge that in the last days of his life he received the most humane care from the Jerry & Dolores Turco Rehab Center.
Sincerely Yours, E.A.
Dear Mimi,
I want to thank you for the world class medical care your staff has provided my father at your Jerry & Delores Turco Medical Rehabilitation facility. He was discharged to come home a week ago. We believe he is home safely because of the JDT Medical Rehab experience.
My father had a massive cerebral hemorrhage on June 6, 2009, because he was given a drug at a local Bergen County hospital that caused his condition. He was in a coma and life support for 30 days and was declared to be in a vegetative state. He has 11 procedures performed on him the first 17 days and five of those procedures were performed in the brain. The 45 days after his first brain hemorrhage, he has a second brain bleed. My Dad’s case seemed hopeless. Doctors and nurses tried to convince us to let him go in peace. However, we had faith in God. Actually, everyday I prayed in the name of Jesus through God the Father to heal him. Our prayers were answered.
After nine long months and six different medical facilities, my Dad is finally home with a better quality of life. My family is extremely thankful that my Dad was rehabilitated in the JDT Medical Rehab Center. My mother and I were with my Dad 24 hours, 7 days a week the first 5 months during his battle to recover from his brain hemorrhage. I had the 9pm shift. We never left my Dad alone the first 5 months because we couldn’t trust the medical facilities he was in. I could tell you nightmare stores of what happened to my Dad because of the incompetency of the medical staff. Actually, we believe he would have been dead multiple times over if we weren’t at his bedside.
It was not until my Dad was admitted into JDT Medical Rehab that we finally felt comfortable to leave him unattended by either me or my mother. We made tremendous sacrifices to be with my Dad. I literally put my wife, three little boys, and work on the back burner for 5 months because we were too afraid to leave my Dad alone. We thank you for providing us the level of trust and creating a safe environment for our Dad.
We were extremely impressed with the level of care and service given by your whole staff starting from the receptionist, administrative staff, janitorial services, nurse's assistants, nurses, rehab speech & physical therapists and doctors. I tell everyone I meet that your facility is like being in a 5 Star Hotel. Your facility gave the comfort of home and the feel of being at a spa and a luxurious resort. My dad truly enjoyed your healing garden too.
I was Mayor of my community of many years. I understand what it takes to run an organization and create a culture that is service and customer oriented. Your rehabilitation center is amazing. We were amazed at how much thought and detail went into the design of your physical & occupational therapy facility. Quite frankly, your facility is light years ahead of Kessler’s in West Orange. You actually created an environment as close as possible to reality with your simulated home and downtown market.
Your physical and occupational therapists are amazing! They are extremely dedicated, knowledgeable and energetic. Most importantly, your therapists are filled with passion! We were amazed at how much more on-on-one therapy he was getting at your facility compared to Kessler’s facility in West Orange.
Your nurse managers Danielle, Elizabeth and Joy were amazing. I was very impressed with their level of compassion, love and attention to detail. They actually treated my Dad and Mom as if they were their family. I am very grateful for their level of care.
As for Dr. Guariglia, he was amazing! He was available via his cell phone at all hours of the day. In this day and age, that’s amazing that a doctor fives his cell phone out. Believe it or not, he is actually visiting my Dad at hone to see how he is doing. Wow! I didn’t know that doctors still make house calls in this day and age.
Thank you for helping my Dad beat all the odds. He is bow hone with a better quality of life. We look forward to coming back to your facility as an outpatient three times a week for physical & occupational therapy.
Best Wishes, W.K.
Dear Mimi and Eddie:
I am the son of one of recent admission to the JDT Care Center. My mom, Mrs. Josephine C., underwent Spine surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Paterson) on Mar. 1st. In March 5th, she was admitted to the JDT facility for 19 days. I am writing to let you know how satisfied I was to know my mom was comfortable, treated with respect, and without a doubt, physically enhanced through your professional staff of OT’s and PT’s and Nurses.
My line of work within the industry allows me access to many Sub-Acute/Rehab facilities throughout the State. I chose your facility because I wanted to make sure that my mom not only received the best of nursing and physical rehab but as important to me was the “environment experience.” I was so satisfied to know that my mom had her own “single” room, with all the comforts of home and elegant surroundings of a 1st class hotel. My mom was content during the daytime because of certain cleanliness and elegance mixed with professional service excellence. She enjoyed such activities like bingo, movies, the mobile library & the Belly Dancer performance. She was glad to visit the Salon because my mom always takes pride in looking good. ..I want to thank Toni Loyas (Administration) and Terri Curt in Admission, both of whom did not disappoint me in their promises to take excellent care of mom. Toni’s staff in the Rehab Department should be applauded for their expertise and their interpersonal skills in dealing with patients. Toyin was the 1st Therapist to evaluate mom on day 1 and she could not have been more pleasant, professional and displaying a level of patience appropriate with a post surgical new admission. Jerome in Rehab was a respectful, congenial and skillful Therapist who worked with my mom daily. His gentle but firm approach helped my mom reach her goals. He is a true asset to the department. My mom took very well to Jodi who also worked with her daily. She was diligent, challenging and very engaging. She was steadfast when she had to be; yet understanding to the physical limitations of a post surgical patient. Joel was a steady-eddy every day, bringing mom up & down to Rehab with a cheerful continence and great attitude. Mark did an excellent job with the initial orientation thoroughly explaining JDT policies, activities available and made himself always accessible for future questions. Anna, Jeanette and Alice were 3 Nurses aids that took great care of mom’s daily routing of hygiene, medications, and various chores that helped tremendously…They should be commended on their personal caring and conscientious approach to their patients. Finally, Betty & Melissa in Social Services helped clarify the expectations at the start of rehab and on-going evaluations during mom’s stay. They thoroughly explained Insurance coverage and reimbursements and goal achievements from rehab. Both ladies were very pleasant and informative whenever they dealt with us at family sit down meetings.
I thank and applaud you, Mimi and Eddie, for the realization of a most wonderful experience a patient can have in rehab a JDT. Your attention to details shine through with an elegance and polish placed on a Sub-Acute facility that I have not seen elsewhere. You should both be proud of what HDT accomplishes in patient care. Much continued success.
My personal thanks for giving my mom a pleasant rehab experience.

Dear JDT Staff (Nurses, Admin, PT, Everyone!),
The simple things, the small things - can be the most meaningful. It's small kindness that touch us most - the little gestures that show someone is thoughtful and kind, that someone cares. And it's even more wonderful when those kind gestures come from a whole group of people. Thanks so much to all of you.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for the care you have given our dad during his stay at JDT. Your entire staff were the most caring and kind individuals that took pride in their work. During my dad's last few weeks, we were so happy to know that JDT was his home. You are the BEST !! He was so happy at JDT - Thank You !!!
Love always,
A grateful family (Cedar Grove, NJ)
Hi Serena,
I am just writing a few lines to tell you how happy I have been having Juana as my CNA. She really is devoted to her job. Whatever I needed she provided for me. Juana is very pleasant and friendly all the time. Even at times when I know she is not feeling 100% herself. My stay here has been very pleasant and Juana was a big part of it.
Sincerely,
an appreciative guest (Lincoln Park, NJ)
Dear JDT staff,
From the first day my mother was admitted, I found the staff to be highly courteous and genuinely friendly. I know my mother received excellent care. Thank You.
a thankful son (Wayne, NJ)
Dear Serena and staff,
I would like to complement you on the beautiful facility you have and the good care my Mother-in-law is receiving. From the time she was admitted I was put at ease with the care. Thank you very much for your time and your caring.
Sincerely,
A thankful daughter in law (Lincoln Park, NJ)
Dear Mrs. Feliciano and Staff,
Blessed are those of us whose lives are touched by people who care. Thank you so much.
We had the pleasure of meeting you and many of your staff yesterday at the dinner. Thank you for the opportunity, the fine food, entertainment and enjoyable moments with our loved one. It's wonderful to catch a glimpse of someone's dream becoming a reality - become a saving grace in so many lives. We thank you.
A grateful family (Towaco, NJ)
Dear Mimi,
I would like to thank you for the wonderful "Family Night Dinner" held July 29th. It was great having dinner with my girls. I have been a patient at JDT since you opened and loving every moment. All of your staff has been wonderful and helpful. Now, my goal is getting back to my home as soon as possible. Your facility is beautiful and good luck. Thank You again.
It's just a little message, but in it you will find a great big "thanks" for being so thoughtful and so kind!
Sincerely,
An appreciative guest (Clifton, NJ)
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Feliciano,
Thank you for making our stay at JDT a pleasant experience. Your staff is professional, considerate and very helpful. Your many activities and garden are exceptional. I would highly recommend any needing rehab to use your services.
Thank You,
A thankful guest (Towaco, NJ)
Dear Karen,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, actually my whole heart. Because of your recommendation for the JDT Rehab, part of Lincoln Park Renaissance, my wife is now a resident. In my opinion they are doing more for her in the week she has been there than Kessler institute did in the month she was there. Thank you for the help.
Sincerely,
A Grateful husband (Caldwell, NJ)
Dear Mrs. S. Niehaus, RN, BSN, MPS, Director:
In late June, I came to The Renaissance for post-surgical rehabilitation for a right leg arterial bypass complicated by a ortheo-arthritic condition of my knees and an existing below the knee amputation of my left leg. After ten days, I was given the opportunity to transfer to the JDT Medical Rehab Center which was just recently opened. This seemed like a favorable move, so I jumped at the chance.
I was the third patient aboard what I heard was a landlocked cruise ship where medical treatment, accommodations, physical therapy, food, and other amenities merited the description. I was given excellent care throughout my stay of three weeks. So much so, I am continuing outpatient physical therapy until I reach my full potential.
My treatment by the nurses and their aides seemed better than what one would receive in an ICU of a typical hospital. Even given the fact that center is a new, the housekeeping was very thorough. The food was delicious with many choices. The PT and OT services are super with first-class therapists, spacious and well equipped gyms. My finest remembrance is and will be the healing garden. Most of my free time was spent there, praying, meditating, and just being close to nature that it provides.
I sincerely thank the whole staff of JDT Medical Rehab Center for getting me back on the road to recovery and giving me an experience of a lifetime.
Sincerely,
A very appreciative guest (Pompton Plains, NJ)
Dear Serena:
My wife and I are settled in at home (sort of) and she is presently receiving in-home therapy through Atlantic Health Systems. I am writing to thank you and your staff for your professional, compassionate care for Kay an, at times, myself when needed. It is noteworthy that your staff would go the extra mile when needed. One day around noon my wife was being visited on the patio; your staff found us and brought lunch to the patio, as well as a cool drink for her visitors. This was special. Dear Staff,
I would like to thank the day crew nurses and their assistants. Especially the night crew thanks Denis, Nila, Krystal and crew. Thanks for the food, thanks food managers; I was surely surrounded by Angels just what GOD promised me. Thank you all.
A grateful friend (Montville, NJ)
Dear Staff,
During my stay for several weeks I was fortunate to stay at JDT. JDT was much more "homey" than I anticipated it would be. The place is always clean, well decorated and the Garden is beautiful. I really enjoyed the "rehab realities" meetings with Theresa and how everyone knew my name; it made me feel like the staff really cared. I am especially grateful with how my grandchildren could always visit me. Thank you for helping me regain my balance when walking. All the rehab instructors are very professional and look great in matching uniforms. There is not enough I could say about the nurses. The night before my scheduled discharge I was experiencing some problems and the nurses made me feel at ease. Thank you for making me feel like I was home.
Best Wishes,
A satisfied guest (Wayne, NJ)
Dear Mimi,
A note to comment on the Physical and Occupational Therapists. They are always pleasant, compassionate and very innovative. Very special thanks to Magda, Janet, Emmelita for being so caring. All of the staff has been so very friendly and caring. I would recommend this facility to anyone of family or friends. Continued success for JDT.
A happy guest (Lodi, NJ)
Dear Staff
The care is so terrific you don't think much about your problems. There are too many names to mention but two nurses Heather and Ann, also Linette in Admin went far beyond my needs & Expectations. This place is extremely well run and organized. Thank You.
A guest (Pompton Plains, NJ)
To the Therapy Department,
During my two stays after hip surgery and then bone fracture repair and revised hip surgery, you helped me regain my mobility and dignity. I have watched you with other patients, some of whom it is so hard to imagine success, and the way you are able to encourage each to reach their potential. I have had therapy at different locations, but I have found you to be the best. I wish you call continued success. You are real professionals.
Sincerely,
A humbled guest (Pompton Lakes, NJ)
Dear JDT,
I can walk and I feel wonderful. Everyone at JDT is really terrific. I enjoyed everything from sing-alongs with Charles from recreation to the aides and nurses that are always willing to help make everything perfect. Even when my family visited me they could not believe that I was staying in a rehab facility, they thought it was a hotel. Your facility is much more than I expected, it is gorgeous!! All in all JDT is just a great place.
Sincerely,
A very pleased guest (Wayne, NJ)
Dear Staff,
JDT is a beautiful, efficient, and professional facility that I cannot say enough good things about. The caring, professional staff, talented therapists and general atmosphere are amazing. I found it inspiring not only to realize the progress I was making , but also the progress of my fellow guests. I doubt that too many people come to a rehab facility by choice, but this is most definitely the one to come to when necessary! And I might add that 46 years as a professional RN qualify me to make that statement!!!
Thank You,
A satisfied guest (Paterson, NJ)
Dear JDT,
Nela and Matthew in occupational & Physical Therapy were extremely important in the process of my therapy. Especially Nela's positive attitude with me; honest and straight forward thoughts; her compassion and gentleness when needed. Their dedication was evident in the way that they met my needs. I enjoyed my experience here and would recommend.
An elated guest (Morristown, NJ)
Dear JDT,
The most efficient aide I have ever encountered. It was my fortune to have on my floor. Magna Pop is a gem. Her efficiency, caring and attention to necessary details is unbelievable. I hope the administration appreciates having such an employee.
A satisfied guest (Baltimore, MD)
Dear Staff,
Physical Therapy staff department is exceptional "7 days a week" what a help!! After having been here this long I am learning that all the staff, everyone is really trying. And as I am preparing to leave I feel so fortunate to be here. I have visited friends at other rehabs and would not want to be in any of them. Mimi and Eddie are building a gem. I am so glad that I was here for recovery.
A fortunate friend (Verona, NJ)
Dear Friends,
Thank you for getting me back on my feet. Every service was provided and there are always activities to partake in. I plan on bringing cards and pamphlets for JDT to my Doctor and friends because it is like a resort. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Every time I wanted something Mark was there to help. Jodi in PT always made me laugh and Yolando treats me like I was part of her family; she bends backwards for me. Additionally PT worked me hard but they are kind and very professional. They make sure you do what you are supposed to do. Once again thank you so much. My room was superb in that I felt like I was in a first-class hotel and not a rehab.
A Happy Guest
Dear JDT,
Allow me to start off with that I believe you provide the Highest Quality care in the state of New Jersey and others would be missing out if they went elsewhere. JDT recognizes and treats the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Movie Nights, buffets, groups, and social activities are all wonderful surprises that I never dreamed would be available. The healing garden was tremendous and offered a peaceful, soothing respite. Though I am excited to go home, I am sad that I am leaving a place where I made so many friends and felt like I was at home. The staff has become my second family and there has never been an instance during my stay where I felt I was not a JDT priority. Prior to my surgery I was mildly incapacitated, after surgery I was grossly incapacitated, now I am once again independent. Thank you everyone for your help during these times. I would also like to say that the services provided by Theresa Cecelia instill JDT’s commitment to a person on all levels. JDT has gone beyond my expectations. I thought it would be very institutionalized and business like but it is actually very warm and caring. Thank you for exceeding my expectations.
A Grateful Friend
The Nurses and all the Staff,
In grateful appreciation to you all for the caring kindness and compassion you have shown to him and all the family as well during his transition from the hospital to your rehabilitation facility. It is his first experience with rehabilitation and your assurance and assistance has been a tremendous help in making him feel comfortable. God bless for all your efforts.
Best wishes,
The family of a satisfied guest (Pequannock, NJ)
Dear Ms. Feliciano,
I recently completed a ten day physical rehabilitation session at your new facility in Lincoln Park following a full hip replacement surgery. I am writing to thank you and your entire team for the outstanding care and attention I was afforded during my stay. Your medical staff, physical therapists and administrative team could not have been more professional and courteous to me, my family and friends during their visits. I found your facility to be comfortable, immaculate, and with an atmosphere that was restful and very conducive to healing both physically and mentally from a very traumatic experience. As a result of your wonderful care my recovery has been relatively quick, safe, and noticeably progressive.
I am grateful to everyone I met at your facility but especially to those that helped me with my recovery on a daily basis including Jody Berg, Nila Desai, Cecile McLarnan, Dr. Eperline, Joy Fox, Betty Gabiel, Mellissa, Donna V. (Rn) and Susie.
Please accept my sincere thanks and best wishes to you and your team,
A fan of your care (Mountain Lakes, NJ)
